This is a classroom-based training course. It has been designed to enhance the trainee’s understanding of what constitutes a safer working environment. The aim is to learn about the issues surrounding health and safety, the principle hazards and risks relating to the SRN and the key legislation surrounding it. Best practice techniques & principles will also be covered.

The day will end with a test which you’ll need to pass to conclude the induction process.

  • Have gained an overview of Highways England’s minimum expectation for working on their strategic road network (SRN)

  • Be able to review fatal risks that occur when working on the SRN.

Stump Grinding Training

Introduction

Learn to use this powerful machine safely and expertly with our specialist one-day course.

Overview in brief

Stump grinders remove tree stumps by literally chipping away at them – usually with a cutting wheel.

As a result, they can be dangerous tools if used incorrectly or without adequate training. Our course will teach you the appropriate techniques and safety guidelines.

It’s ideal if you work in the arboriculture, forestry, horticulture, landscaping or grounds maintenance industries. This is a hands-on course that delivers both practical skills and health and safety guidance as well as demonstrating that you and your employer have completed sufficient training to meet the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER).

This is an integrated training and assessment course. Successfully complete it and you’ll receive a certificate of training.

We’ll guide you through all the relevant health and safety guidelines to ensure you stay protected.

You’ll also be given practical experience working with the machine to learn and hone techniques.

  • Select the appropriate PPE and state the maintenance requirements

  • Prepare machine prior to operation
  • Carry out routine operator maintenance
  • Start the machine and carry out safety checks prior to use
  • Prepare work site
  • Use approved techniques to trim hedge
  • State the environmental and wildlife considerations when trimming hedges
  • State the different types of hedges and finishes
  • State the correct disposal methods for the trimmings.

Hot Water Weed Control Train the Trainer Training

Introduction

The LANTRA accredited Hot Water Weed Control Train the Trainer programme (also known as Instructor training) has been designed to give experienced HWWC operators the skills and associated knowledge required to deliver the Train the Trainer training programme to other new leaners.

The Multevo Hot Water Weed Control (HWWC) accredited Instructor Training programme has been designed to give LANTRA accredited Operators the skills and associated knowledge required to train novice/potential HWWC operators as to the safe operations of the equipment and make them aware of the potential risks and hazards associated when operating the HWWC equipment in a working environment.

On conclusion of the training the trainee’s will have gained the knowledge and understanding of how to instruct novice operators to comply with the relevant legislation and official guidance in relation to HWWC INCLUDING

  • Health and Safety at work act (HASAWA)
  • PPE in the workplace
  • PUWER Regulations / ACOPS
  • Train the Trainer Techniques including the following subject areas:
    • Defining trainer’s role and responsibilities
    • Understand how people learn and behavioral changes
    • Preparation to conduct an effective training session
  • Testing Basic Operating skills including
    • HWWC instrumentation

As well as undergoing a review of how to safely operate the HWWC equipment, the trainees will be given a basic understanding as to how to train others to safely operate the equipment. The course includes a more in-depth & greater understanding of the Health & Safety requirements and the Operators roles & responsibilities. They will gain a brief understanding and techniques on how to

Hot Water Weed Control Operator Training

Introduction

The LANTRA accredited Multevo Hot Water Weed Control training programme has been designed to give the operators the basic practical skills and associated knowledge required to effectively & safely operate the Hot

Water Weed Control equipment. The training programme also gives the operator awareness of the potential risks and hazards associated when operating associated with the equipment in the working environment.

Overview in brief

Hot water is one of the most effective natural transmitters of thermal energy and all our systems are optimised as a result of our unique Boiling Hot water Technique® to deliver a low pressure 98°C impact with weeds destroying the cellular structure of the plant and roots. Our Operator training programme accredited by LANTRA covers the theoretical aspects of the safe operation of the equipment as well as all the practical aspects. The half day course can accommodate up to 6 trainees and can be carried out anywhere within the UK. A classroom environment for the theoretical presentation and the operational HWWC equipment in an outdoor environment are required.

The finer details

The HWWC training programme is split into 2 sections, both lasting for approximately 2 hours per session (dependent on the ability of the trainees). In the first session the attendees will be made aware of

  • the relevant Health & Safety legislation surrounding the use of the HWWC equipment,
  • understand their responsibilities & the responsibilities of the employer
  • walked through the safest & most efficient way to operate the equipment
  • complete a short theory test to demonstrate their understanding on the safe operation of the equipment

During the second half of the programme the trainees will be given the opportunity to gain a small amount of experience and given time to familiarise themselves with the practical operational aspects and putting into practice some of the aspects which they learnt in the classroom.

  • & The applications of the HWWC equipment under normal working conditions, covering simple tasks of all the equipment operations
  • Experiencing the equipment controls
  • Instruction as to the daily care of vehicle.
  • Gaining a small amount of experience into the best usage of the HWWC equipment

Anyone who is required to operate the Multevo Hot Water Weed Control equipment.

What will be covered?

Our representative who delivers the programme are fully qualified instructor who has been accredited by LANTRA to deliver the training. On conclusion of the training we would expect the trainees to

  • Safely & effectively be able to Operate the Hot Water Weed Control equipment
  • Fully understand their Health & Safety responsibilities with respect to the operating of the HWWC equipment.
