Keeping the UK Moving: Smarter Maintenance for the Strategic Road Network
Since its inception in 1958, the UK’s motorway network has played a vital role in connecting people with places, businesses, and loved ones. Spanning over 4,500 miles of motorways and major A roads, this strategic network carried an estimated 69.9 billion vehicle miles of traffic in 2023 alone highlighting its importance to the nation’s economy and daily life.
With such a heavily used network comes the challenge of maintaining it to a high standard, while minimising disruption to road users and ensuring safety. This is where Multevo’s turnkey solution for the strategic network delivers real value.
Our latest animation delves into this solution and how it’s making a real difference.
A Turnkey Solution for Smarter Maintenance
Since 2020, Multevo have worked closely with network partners to introduce smarter, more efficient ways of working.
Our turnkey solution goes beyond service delivery, encompassing a wider range of critical support solutions including design, plan and programme consultancy, dedicated contract management, multi-skilled teams, real-time recording and performance management.
This streamlined approach helps to maximise efficiencies through a whole managed service, whilst fostering trust through transparent audit trails of works and open communication.
Comprehensive Maintenance, One Provider
Multevo’s in-house teams and use specialist equipment allow teams to tackle a wide range of maintenance activities in one go. Supported by our High-Speed Traffic Management division, we deliver and manage all associated traffic management, giving us full control of closures and improving overall efficiency.
Under a single closure, our teams can carry out:
- Cyclical duties such as verge cutting, central reservation clearance, litter picking, and scavenging.
- Targeted patch repairs, providing permanent fixes to defects without resurfacing large areas, saving time, cost, and carbon.
- Additional maintenance, including overburden clearance, structural maintenance, gantry signs, tree maintenance, and weed control
This all-encompassing approach enables clients to deal with one trusted provider for multiple services. Much of our work is carried out overnight, while traffic levels are at their lowest. During these shifts, our teams can complete multiple tasks under a single closure, maximising productivity and minimising disruption to drivers.
Another key factor to the success of our unique approach is the quality of in-house skills. Through heavily investing in people, teams are multi-skilled meaning they can switch from one task to another within the closure – meaning more can be done in less time.
Innovation Through Digital Reporting
To further add value, all works are recorded digitally in real-time using our bespoke Multevo App. This technology captures critical data, helping our clients make informed decisions and plan future maintenance more effectively.
The information feeds directly into bespoke report dashboards, where key data is summarised which helps monitor KPIs and compliance.
Safe, Accredited and Trusted
We hold Highways Passport Silver Level accreditation, and operate under National Highways Sector Schemes 12, 16, and 18, giving our clients confidence in our capability and compliance.
Our ethos is simple: to create better and safer driving experiences through high-quality, innovative, and forward-thinking service delivery.
