Their second award win of the year saw Multevo win the Innovation Award for their UK-first in-situ recycling solution for patching repairs.

Winning the industry award followed Multevo taking home the Lancashire Business View Award in March at the Lancashire Red Rose Awards.

Innovation has always been at the heart of Multevo, who pride themselves on their drive and flexibility in introducing new ways of working.

The ‘Recycle, Rejuvenate, Repair’ system is a low carbon, zero waste, one machine solution for delivering long lasting pothole, patch and defect repairs in 3 simple steps:

  1. Recycle: The system mills the existing surface to a max depth of 100mm whilst crushing milled materials.
  2. Rejuvenate: Recycled millings are mixed with a low carbon rejuvenator product, instantaneously ready for compaction.
  3. Repair: What’s left is a 100% regenerated bituminous product leaving a long lasting and high-quality repair.

Following an extensive research and development phase, the solution was launched in 2025 via a live demonstration at the Local Council Roads Innovation Group (LCRIG) Innovation Festival, attracting a large crowd of local highways authorities. Since then, the sector has widely shown interest in the innovation and the benefits it can bring to their network.

Lancashire County Council became the first local authority to trial the solution on their network, with ongoing testing to truly understand the impact and scalability. This formed part of a multi-million partnership between the Council and Multevo for the managed service for surfacing and pothole repairs, which featured an embedded innovation clause.

Through the clause, Multevo are empowered to introduce and trial innovations on the County’s network, with the in-situ recycling patching solution just one of many forward-thinking approaches being put to the test.

The solution provides improved ways of working, with tests evidencing that the process takes just 3 minutes to repair a pothole (1 square metre in size).

By requiring less vehicles on site and no virgin asphalt, it not only reduces the cost of repair and emissions, but it also reduces operative exposure on site, resulting in a much safer and greener process.

As a zero-waste solution, it also eliminates the need for removing waste from site, reducing associated transportation needs. The tool carrier is also road legal, reducing transport needs further.

On receiving the award, Josh Sweeney, Director of Marketing & Growth at Multevo comments:

“We are extremely proud to have been recognised by the RSTA for our forward-thinking approach. Winning the Innovation award is a testament to the team involved in overseeing the trials and to our ethos which is centred around bringing new ways of working to the industry.”

2026 is set to be another year of introducing new ways of working into the industry for Multevo, who have several key innovations launching over the coming months. Multevo are known to never stand still, becoming widely known amongst the highways sector for delivering differently and assisting local authorities to deliver quality repairs for their community.

The RSTA Annual Conference and Awards Ceremony took place on the 16th of April at The Belfry Hotel & Resort, bringing together the highways community from across the public and private sector. The agenda was packed with insightful talks from the Department for Transport, RAC, and the UK Roads Leadership Group.

During the event, Josh Sweeney, Director of Marketing & Growth at Multevo, was elected to the RSTA Executive Committee. The committee is built up a key members from across the industry, who will collaborate throughout the year to share best practise and focus on overcoming sector-wide challenges.

Josh adds:

“The RSTA is doing great things for our industry and I’m looking forward to working closely with the Executive Committee to raise the standard. The need for change has been apparent for some time, and I came away from the conference feeling confident that positive action is being taken towards better roads for all.”

Throughout the conference agenda the message was clear: a focus on preventative treatments, transparency, collaboration, and upskilling to raise the standards of how the UK’s most important asset is maintained.

As a proud and long-standing member of the RSTA, Multevo are looking forward to engaging with the association and its members to shape the future of highways.
