Reflection from LCRIG: A first-time experience at the Learning & Innovation Festival

As part of Multevo’s growing team, Digital Marketing Executive, Dec Clegg, recently attended the LCRIG Innovation & Learning Festival for the first time. With Multevo being main festival partners and playing a key role at the event through live demonstrations and technical sessions, it was a great opportunity to connect with industry peers, learn more about sector trends, and get a feel for the new innovations in the industry.

Below, Dec shares his takeaways from his first LCRIG experience, captured in a short video and article:

This year was my first time attending LCRIG Innovation & Learning festival with Multevo and was only my 3rd industry event so far. It’s safe to say it was chalk and cheese compared to the others. The festival from my experience was exactly what it says on the tin, lots of innovation and lots of learning. I’d been told it was a big deal in the highways calendar, but you never really know until you’re there. It was great to see this was the case.

As main festival sponsors Multevo had a strong presence across the board. We had an indoor and outdoor stand featuring our full product range, merchandise, literature and even a mini golf course!

From the get-go there was a huge interest in our newly launched Recycle, Rejuvenate, Repair system which was really exciting to see. This was something that we’d teased on socials leading up to the event which had created a lot of curiosity and intrigue from delegates. After answering lots of questions and speaking with local authorities the interest in the system just intensified, which was great timing for Josh Sweeney’s technical talk on the system itself. Josh talked through the ins and outs of the system and touched on important technical details about the system. For those who missed the event, the talk was recorded so we are hopeful to get that out on socials to you soon.

Dec recorded a short interview whilst at the event 👇

The talk set up perfectly well for our live demo in the afternoon. Anticipation had built throughout the day and the operatives conducting the demo definitely didn’t disappoint. The demonstration drew a tremendous crowd which was great for showcasing the uniqueness of the recycle, rejuvenate, repair system. Delegates finally got to see the efficiency of our new innovation and how not just on par but how far ahead it is compared to alternatives.

For me, it was great to see how digital and on-the-ground activity can line up. People recognised the system from the teaser content we’d put out in the weeks before, which made conversations easier and gave our messaging more weight, therefore leading to our team being able to amplify this when speaking directly with delegates. That felt like a bit of a win.

From my side, it was a reminder that digital work doesn’t just live on a screen, it feeds into real conversations. Seeing someone approach the stand already familiar with what we do because of a LinkedIn teaser, or a short post makes all the behind-the-scenes effort feel more worthwhile.

Moving into the second day, the interest didn’t slow down. A fair few people actually made their way back to the demo site to inspect the repair a day later and by all accounts everyone was very impressed. Interest didn’t slow down in other areas with the new Multevo W series and our new electric planer & roller picking up a lot of traction. You could tell word had spread, which was good to see.

All in all, it was a full-on but great couple of days down at LCRIG. As someone relatively new to the industry it was great to meet new people, introduce my work to people and be able to be part of a fascinating new chapter in terms of Multevo’s service delivery. I really look forward to making next year’s event even better.
