Share Shrewsbury is a Shropshire based charity set up by former Shrewsbury Mayor, Jane Mackenzie, following the loss of her daughter as a result of alcohol dependency.
As a local highway maintenance contractor, Multevo recognised the opportunity to support the charity as part of their desire to empower the local communities in which they operate in.
Multevo formed part of the Shropshire Highways Alliance in March 2021 working in partnership with Kier Highways and Shropshire Council to deliver meaningful permanent road repairs across the network using the productive Multihog equipment, having completed over 90,000m2 of repairs so far.
Launched in 2019, Share Shrewsbury aims at creating awareness and challenging the stigma around addiction as well as offering support and advice to those seeking recovery, and their friends and family. Jane’s passion and determination to make a difference has led her to host a virtual conference, Alcohol: Sharing the Truth, on the 19th and 20th of May 2022.
The two-day event is aimed at individuals, businesses and leaders, and features world class speakers including ex Match of The Day 2 host Adrian Chiles. As a Gold Sponsor, Multevo will be helping to raise awareness of the event and are encouraging individuals to attend in order to build a better knowledge and understanding of alcohol addictions.
Speaking on the event, Jane explains:
“As well as celebrity speakers, the virtual conference has also attracted leading medical experts who have devoted their careers to increasing our understanding about alcohol and addiction. Through insightful talks and discussions, they’ll demonstrate how dangerous alcohol can be, the damage it does to the body, and how the latest research is teaching us new ways to approach treatment and recovery.”
The event also has a focus on workplace drinking and highlights the positive steps organisations can take to support their workforce and why developing compassionate alcohol policies can increase productivity.
Aimee Dewse, Marketing Executive at Multevo shares her thoughts on supporting Share Shrewsbury:
“Within two minutes of our first call with Jane we knew we wanted to support her cause. The time, passion, and dedication she is putting in to making a difference to the lives of individuals affected by addiction is inspiring. We’re really looking forward to working closely with Jane and her team over the next few weeks as she gears up for her first virtual conference. As an organisation, having the ability to support local charities such as Share Shrewsbury means a great deal to us.”
