The LANTRA accredited Multihog Vehicle Operator Basic training programme as been designed to give trainees the appropriate skills and associated knowledge required to safely operate a Multihog vehicle.

The attendees of this programme will be trained & given the opportunity to gain a small amount of experience in the following areas

  • The applications of the Multihog vehicle under normal working conditions, covering simple tasks of all the equipment operations
  • Experiencing and Knowledge of all the equipment manoeuvrability
  • Instruction as to the daily care of vehicle.
  • Becoming familiar with the correct loading & unloading of the attachments onto the Multihog Vehicle.
  • Gaining a small amount of experience into the best usage of the Multihog vehicle.

Multihog Operator Train the Trainer Training

Introduction

The LANTRA accredited Train the Trainer programme (also known as Instructor training) has been designed to give experienced Multihog operators the skills and associated knowledge required to deliver the Train the Trainer training programme.

The Multihog vehicle range accredited Instructor Training programme has been designed to give LANTRA accredited Operators the skills and associated knowledge required to train novice/potential Multihog vehicle operators as to the safe operations of the Multihog vehicle & its attachments and makes them aware of the potential risks and hazards associated when operating the Multihog in a working environment.

On conclusion of the training the trainee’s will have gained the knowledge and understanding of how to instruct novice operators to comply with the relevant legislation and official guidance in relation to the Multihog vehicle INCLUDING

  • Health and Safety at work act (HASAWA)
  • PPE in the workplace
  • PUWER Regulations / ACOPS
  • Train the Trainer Techniques including the following subject areas:
    • Defining trainer’s role and responsibilities
    • Understand how people learn and behavioral changes
    • Preparation to conduct an effective training session
  • Testing Basic Operating skills including
    • Multihog vehicle instruments
    • Pre-use checks and reporting of defects
    • Safe operation of the Multihog vehicle and emergencies
    • Maneuver in restricted areas

Learners to prepare lesson plan for theory session to be prepared by themselves ready to present on the next day session.

People who want to (or the business wants them to) train others for an “In House” qualification to safely operate the Multihog & its attachments.

As well as undergoing a review of how to safely operate the Multihog vehicle, the trainees will be given a basic understanding as to how to train others to safely operate the vehicle. The course includes a more in-depth & greater understanding of the Health & Safety requirements and the Operators roles & responsibilities. As with all machinery operating and looking after a combi tractor mower safely and efficiently is absolutely vital.

Our course will help hone your existing skills, or it’s great if you are starting from scratch.

This is an integrated training and assessment course. You will receive a certificate of training once it your trainee has successfully completed the course.

Our training will suit you if you are currently using Multihog/tractor and mower combinations. Our instructor will guide you through the theory, so you have an insight into safety awareness and risk assessment.

Then it will be time to get behind the wheel and use your theory skills to use the machinery safely and with confidence. Basic operations and checks will be covered, as will both working on slopes and level ground, using different cutting mechanisms and driving on the road.

  • Elect appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Identify and understand the function of all instruments and controls

Arm Mounted Cutting Equipment Training

Overview in brief

Attachments such as the arm-mounted cutter give tractors an unrivalled versatility when it comes to rural work.

Without proper training, incorrect use of cutting equipment can lead to accidents.

Our course will teach you how to operate this useful tool safely and competently.

Novices will be able to develop their skills, while more experienced users can hone their techniques.

This is an integrated training and assessment course. The successful trainee will receive a certificate of training upon completion. Our experienced instructors will ensure you can use both the tractor and the cutting equipment with confidence. You’ll learn the theory behind the equipment and its safe use and once you’ve been taught the pre-operational checks, you’ll gain vital practical experience.

Course sessions:

  • General safety when using an arm-mounted cutter
  • The cutter
  • Pre-use checks
  • Roadside working
  • Practical operation of the arm-mounted cutter.

Course Duration

Our course will last at least a day and possibly longer, depending on the level of your experience. You will also need to be either an experienced tractor user or have attended a tractor-driving course.

Who should attend?

Our course is suitable for both new and experienced users of cutting equipment. You’ll either be an experienced tractor driver or have attended a tractor driving course.

What will be covered?

By the end of the course, you’ll be able to:

  • Comply with legal requirements with an emphasis on safe practice
  • Select the appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Inspect the work area for Health and Safety and Environmental concerns
  • Identify and understand the controls and components of the equipment
  • Carry out pre-start and daily checks and maintenance as indicated in the manufacturer’s instruction manual
  • Identify the risks associated with the use of flail cutters
  • Safely start, stop and check all mechanisms for the tractor and cutters
  • Operate the machine in a safe and competent manner
  • Drive and operate the hydraulic controls to achieve an accurate cut
  • Understand the stability factors associated with the use of side mounted equipment
  • Put in place any signs or warnings to achieve a safe working environment (if required)
  • Understand the added dangers of operating on the highway and in public areas
  • Carry out after-use checks and maintenance.

Winter Maintenance (up to 7.5 tonnes) Training

However, with this role comes great responsibility. Our dedicated two-day winter maintenance course will equip you with the knowledge and skills to operate machines safely and effectively.

A certificate of competence will be awarded once you complete the course. Course sessions:

You will need to be an experienced vehicle operator with the necessary licences & qualifications/certifications if you will be using any type of vehicle to complete the winter maintenance tasks. If you will be using hand held equipment then anyone can attend.

Multevo’ s Multihog Vehicle Checks & Basic Engineering training course has been designed to give skilled vehicle maintenance engineers/mechanics the appropriate skills and associated knowledge to be able to maintain the Multihog vehicle and to carry out basic fault finding.
