“EQUALITY IS VITAL IN CREATING A FAIR AND EVOLUTIONARY WORKPLACE.”

To continue with our International Women’s Day 2023 celebrations, Kelly Shorrock, SHEQ Coordinator at Multevo, discusses how the highways industry can further promote equal opportunities in the sector.

Since joining Multevo, Kelly has fully educated and immersed herself into the highways sector. As SHEQ Coordinator, her role is vital in ensuring the health and safety of our employees and the public.

What has your experience been like working in the highways industry and for Multevo?

“My experience, though I have only been here under a year, has been extremely interesting and rewarding so far. Every day is different and that helps the working week to fly by!”

Why would you encourage other women to join the sector?

“I would encourage other women to join the sector, as this company is continuing to grow, therefore, we are keen to increase the women to men ratio. Times are changing and this sector is not limited to, and does not promote, gender stereotypes. Multevo is a very welcoming company and I have felt comfortable and confident in becoming part of the team.”

Why do you think it is important to promote equality in the sector?

“I think it is important to promote equality in the sector, as it helps to remove the stereotypes that were once given to industries such as this. It also helps to ensure that equal opportunities are presented to people from all different backgrounds with different views. Equality is vital in creating a fair and evolutionary workplace.”

“I think that the industry can expand their target market and promote our sector and its opportunities at different types of events including creative events. This way rather than reaching the same types of audience, more people can get to know what opportunities the sector can provide them.”
