Local company spreads salt & christmas cheer

Darwen based Highways contractor, Multevo, has donated Christmas presents as well as their Multihog gritting services to help the Blackburn with Darwen community this winter.

The unprecedented extreme cold conditions have left a sheet of ice across a number of locations across the town, with Christmas on the horizon and footfall high, a bit of extra winter maintenance assistance was provided to prevent slips and falls and keep shoppers safe.

Multevo are the sole UK distributor of the range of multi-purpose Multihog compact articulated tractors, currently used by over 40% of local authorities nationwide for a range of services including road repairs, winter maintenance, grass cutting and flood prevention.

The company also deliver a range of turnkey contracting services on behalf of councils nationwide including highways, civil engineering, traffic management, arboriculture, and vegetation management.

Instead of gritting by hand, Multevo offered to operate a Multihog fitted with a rear mounted gritter attachment free of charge to get the task done in difficult to reach areas around Blackburn Cathedral, King Georges Hall, Blackburn College and Brown Street Car Park.

In addition, Multevo have also been spreading Christmas cheer this week supporting the local ‘Care Leavers a Christmas to Remember’ initiative with a donation for the fourth year running.

The initiative, which is organised by LCRIG in conjunction with the Council, was set up to provide those leaving the care system with a gift at Christmas. This year, over 120 gifts have been delivered to Wensley Fold Children’s Centre for distribution before the 25th.

This month Multevo also showed off their versatile and eco-friendly hydrogen machine on the local Charity Christmas Tractor Run organised by the Turton Young Farmers Group.

Over 80 tractors took over the streets for a two hour trip around the local towns and villages to raise funds for Bolton Mountain Rescue and to spread some more Christmas cheer.

Multevo recently won the Highly Commended Award for Large Business of the Year at the annual Hive Business Awards and supporting the local community is embedded within their ethos, with the business becoming the first Gold Patron of Darwen Youth Zone earlier this year.

Josh Sweeney, Director of Marketing & Growth said:

“The business was started here twelve years ago and we’re proud of our roots despite working all over the UK. We’ve had a good year as a business and its important for us to give back whenever we can.

I know the team had a bit of fun making the video but ultimately we care about the communities we live and work in so if we can help, we will.”
